Jonathan Paul, Of Counsel
Born in Iowa City, Iowa, Mr. Paul moved to Central Florida when he was 10 years old and has called this area home ever since. He is a proud graduate of Seminole County Schools and went on to attend college at the University of Florida and law school at Florida State University.
Mr. Paul is Of Counsel to Budgen Law and brings with him years of legal experience in civil litigation. While in law school, Mr. Paul worked at the Department of Business and Professional Regulations and also at the Economic Crimes Division of the Florida Attorney General’s Office. Through the years he has worked at different law firms including a prominent boutique Orlando firm that represented the State of Florida, several local counties and cities in complex workers’compensation litigation. Mr. Paul worked for one of the largest bank and foreclosure law firms in the Southern U.S. before going on to handle foreclosure defense and civil litigation. He also has experience in insurance and general liability defense, construction defects, product defects, contract disputes, and personal injury.
Mr. Paul calls Orlando home and is married with children.
Leslie Kratzke, Senior Litigation Paralegal
Ms. Kratzke is a lifelong Central Florida resident, born and raised here. She left briefly when she attended college at Louisiana State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies. Geaux Tigers.
Ms. Kratzke has over 20 years of experience as a bankruptcy and litigation paralegal, working for large and small firms in the Orlando area, including with attorneys who have gone on to be our bankruptcy judges and trustees. She is a passionate volunteer with the Seminole County Animal Services.
When she is not working at the law firm or the shelter, Ms. Kratzke is at home in Winter Springs. She is married with children.
Karen Maxcy, Senior Paralegal/Law Clerk
Born and raised in Singapore, Ms. Maxcy has spent most of her adult life in the US. She attended the University of Northern Iowa and went to law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Before law school, Ms. Maxcy had a career as a broadcast news writer and public relations specialist.
Ms. Maxcy has 15 years of experience in bankruptcy law and is a Missouri-licensed attorney. She and her family recently relocated to Florida from Kansas City for the better climate and she plans on sitting for the Florida Bar exam soon.
Ms. Maxcy and her husband, who is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel, live in Winter Springs with their daughter. Hooah.
Melissa Johnson, Receptionist
Born and raised in Long Island, New York, Ms. Johnson moved with her family to Central Florida about 10 years ago. She has been at the firm for about 2 years and is usually the first voice you hear when you call, and the first face you see when you visit our office. She is a cheerful and reliable resource for our clients and ensures the office is humming like a well-oiled machine.
